Concrete Planters

2010 Honorable Mentions

Carve Surfaceworks places Honorable Mentions in National Design Competition.
Next year we'll be bringing home the Gold.
Thanks to all that took part in this award winning project.
Shell Island Resort: Design By Heather Burkert.
Fabrication by Carve Surfaceworks and Sound Side Carpentry

Carve would like to give Heather M. Burkert, RLA, LEED - AP
credit for her progressive design. She pushed our minds and abilities on this project.
Carve looks forward to working with her firm again.

The Concrete Cartel.
From Left to Right: Skipper Bachman (Skipito), Seth Jacobsen (I lovermont),
John Jarvis (the O.G. MIH'er), Lindey White (El Captain), John White (J Dub)

I would also like to thank Gordan Singletary of  S and W Concrete.
He coordinated all of our concrete trucks and was possibly the
most vital link to this project for Carve. I think Carve still
owes him lunch.
Skip, a sort of Renaissance Man.  He believes the world would be better if
Wal-mart didn't exist and everything was made by hand.
Without Skip Carve would not be where we are today.
And we would probably  be just another lame concrete design company.

Seth a very accomplished concrete artistian.
Maybe you've seen his work in a magazine...
This Old House or Front Cover of Dwell.
Seriously we are fortunate to have this guy in our lives and this project. Big thanks.

Carve also owes a great deal of gratitude to
John and Lindey White of Sound Side Carpentry
These guys have mastered the art of woodworking
and we look forward to the next project.

I thought the wood looked just as sexy as the finished product.
Shell Island Project consisted of complex curves and angles.
We hand poured some walls and ready-mix pumped others.
These 3 particular planter walls were 30,000 lbs or almost 400 bags of Quikrete 5000.
Techniques of formworks used were cast in place and slip forms.
